Restoring Sight Together: RHO’s Role in the Ghana Eye Project 2026
Not every act of hope happens under our own banner sometimes it means connecting the people we serve to the right partners who can do what we can’t. That’s the story behind Radiance Hope Outreach’s involvement in the Ghana Eye Project 2026, a free cataract and pterygium eye surgery initiative led by Columbia Union Conference (USA) together with SDA Valley View Hospital and SDA Gbawe Hospital, in partnership with GAHS, running from June 15th through 27th at Valley View University Hospital in Oyibi and SDA Hospital in Gbawe.

Through our own community eye screenings, our team regularly comes across cases that go beyond what a basic vision check can resolve — cataracts clouding a person’s sight over years, or pterygium growths affecting the eye’s surface. These are conditions that need surgery, not just glasses, and surgery is often the hardest step for someone in a low-income community to reach. When we learned of the Ghana Eye Project’s free surgical program, referring these individuals forward was an easy decision.
Over the course of the surgery period, patients we had flagged through our own screenings were able to receive free, professional surgical care at Valley View and Gbawe hospitals the kind of life-changing procedure that, for many, would otherwise have stayed permanently out of reach. Watching someone go from struggling to see a face clearly to walking out of surgery with restored sight is a reminder of why early detection matters so much in the first place: a screening today can be the reason someone qualifies for the surgery that changes their life tomorrow.

Radiance Hope Outreach is grateful to Columbia Union Conference, SDA Valley View Hospital, SDA Gbawe Hospital, and GAHS for making this level of care accessible, and proud to have played our part in connecting community members to it. This is what partnership in healthcare should look like different organizations, one shared mission of better sight and better lives.
